Head on over to the Harvest Festival in Pasadena NOW!!!

Expert Grandma's Corner

Do you have a little munchkin that is a picky eater? Well you're not alone. All around me I see moms that try everything they can to get their children to eat, including myself. Some of us even spend hours on trying to figure out what we can do.

Well here are some tricks that our Expert Grandma told us to try and YES it works. I'm speaking from experience and was thrilled to see my little angel eating all her meals. Try it and let us know.

1. Take your child by the kitchen sink with their favorite toys. Run the water and have them give their toy a bath or wash their little toys. While they play, you feed them. Works wonders :)

2. Give them Legos to play with. It gets their brain to think about what they're making so you get to feed them the nutritious foods that they need.

3. Sit them on their chair and put their favorite cartoon on. While they're watching, you have a great opportunity to feed them, especially the soups which most children hesitate to eat.

4. Provide paper, crayons and have them draw something for mommy. Not only will they eat their meal but at the same time you will end up with a beautiful art to keep.

5. You know that makeup bag you have with all the beautiful eyeshadows, lipsticks and mascaras. Put it to use!!! Kids love playing with moms makeups. They take everything out of the bag, look at it and put it back. By the time they're done putting everything back, they're also done with their meal :)

Food/Cooking

Since it got a little chilly this past week, I wanted to make a satisfying and delicious soup for the family. I made Bean, Barley and Pea Soup and it turned out great. Below are the ingredients. Try and let us know how you like it.

Ingredients:

2 cups of Bean, Barley and Pea (mix it all together)
2 - 32 oz Vegetable Broth
1 cup onion, chopped
1 cup celery, chopped
1 cup carrot, chopped
1 cup bell pepper, chopper
1 tsp. dried basil
1 clove garlic, crushed
2 Tbsp. olive oil
1/2 tsp. Italian Seasoning
1 cup tomatoes, chopped
1 large potato, peeled cut in little squares
salt and pepper to taste

Wash the Beans, Barley and Peas then rinse and drain. Pour 4 cups of the vegetable broth into pot with the beans. In a separate pan, cook onion, celery, carrot, pepper, basil and garlic in olive oil until soft. Combine this mixture and remaining ingredients into the bean pot and cover with more broth. Simmer covered for about 1 hour to desired tenderness. Be sure to occasionally check liquid level and add more broth if necessary. Will make about 8 servings.

Featured Unique Products

As a busy mother and wife, I try to provide as much nutritious snacks to my family as I possibly
can. One product that I absolutely love that even comes with us on our family vacations is my
Magic Bullet.
Anyone that knows me and has been to my house has seen my Magic Bullet on my kitchen
counter, and has heard me rave about this product all the time. I absolutely love it and can't live
without it. It truly makes my life a lot simpler, because I know that in 15 seconds I can
have a delicious and healthy smoothie ready for my girls and make homemade organic and heathy
baby food in less than 30 seconds. You can do so much with this product that the list goes on and
on, and the best thing about it is that it's so easy to clean and wash.
My mother gave the Magic Bullet as my very first Mother Day gift and I have thanked her so many times and will be forever grateful for introducing me to such a great product that's a staple in my kitchen.

UNIQUE PUMPKIN PATCH FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY TO ENJOY!!!

Lombardi Ranch has been a great family tradition of ours. We took our girls there last weekend for the third year in a row and they absolutely had a blast. Once you go,
I guarantee that you will go back every year. A great bonus is their Farm Fresh Produce,
and don't forget to have their yummy corn on the cob. It's truly delicious and has been our family's favorite food to eat when there. There's so much to do, so make sure you go early and plan on being there for a couple of hours.
Once there, you can enjoy live bands, petting zoos, wagon rides, face paintings and more! And remember, no child leaves empty handed! Each little one leaves Lombardi Ranch with
a balloon, sticker, candy, and a smile on their face; and you leave with way too many pumpkins then you anticipated on buying.  LOL

Here's some information about Lombardi Ranch.
